Working at Play Mountain Place

Play Mountain Place is a humanistic alternative school for preschool and elementary children, in Los Angeles since 1949. Teachers work in teams, use consensus to make decisions, and listen closely to children's feelings. Both child-initiated and teacher-offered activities fill the curriculum. Most of the day happens outdoors.

Positions are full-time, 40 hours a week, from late August to mid-June. Salary is based on education and experience. Call (323) 870-4381 to ask about openings and benefits, or email info@playmountain.org. A visit to observe the program is required.

Nursery Teachers

When we are hiring teachers, we look for teachers to work with children ages 2 ½ to 6 years old who are already experienced in this kind of program or very committed to this philosophy. Teaching experience and units in early childhood education are preferred.

Elementary Teachers

When we are hiring teachers, we look for teachers to work with children ages 6 to 11 years old who are already experienced in this kind of program or very committed to this philosophy. Teaching experience or training in elementary education is strongly preferred.
